The
Lighthouse
for the Blind and Visually Impaired
is a comprehensive rehabilitation agency that offers a variety of
programs. For over 80
years, the Lighthouse has fostered the independence of people who are
blind and visually impaired, thereby helping them to realize their full
potential as individuals. More information about the Lighthouse can be
found on their
website.
As part of their Mardi Gras Gala, the Lighthouse for the Blind is hosting
an online auction again this year for a rare piece of Ephraim pottery.
Introduced in 2005, the Milkweed Vase was designed by artist Laura
Klein. This piece stands 10.50" high and is 4.50" at its widest point.
Partially open milkweed pods rise above a green meadow and release their
cottony seeds into the tranquil blue sky. Earthy and serene with a
strong sculptural component, this piece would make a lovely addition to
virtually any style interior.
The Milkweed Vase was retired on April 27, 2007 with only 112 pieces
made. This is the very last piece available from this edition. It
bears the studio's 2007 mark and Laura Klein's impressed and original
ink signatures.
The Lighthouse
for the Blind will accept online bids starting on Monday, February 15th.
There is a link to the online bid form on the home page of the
Lighthouse's web site:
http://www.lighthousefortheblind-duluth.org/. (The online bid form
will go live on February 15th.) The current high bid will be posted on the
Lighthouse's web site. The last day to submit bids will be Friday, March
5th.
If you have any questions about the online
auction, please email Marsha Lee at
