Partners for Pets Silent
Auction |
|
Partners for Pets
is a licensed not-for-profit all-breed animal rescue group in
Illinois. Their dedicated volunteers spend countless hours rescuing
homeless, unwanted animals from high-kill animal control facilities and
puppy mills. Most of these rescued animals
need
medical care or are just too fragile for shelter life. Partners for Pets
provides extensive medical care to each animal prior to adoption,
including spay/neuter surgery and grooming. About 5% of the animals are
kept in foster care while the other 95% are kept in a shelter environment
until they are adopted. Last
year Partners for Pets was able to find homes for 1000 animals through the
hard work of their volunteers and their generous donors. |
|
Partners for Pets exists solely on donations
and is having a silent auction fundraiser in May. Ephraim Faience Pottery
has donated a beautiful experimental piece to their auction to help
Partners for Pets raise funds to continue their important work on behalf
of animals.
The Bittersweet Vase is
an experimental piece designed by Laura Klein, potter, and John Raymond,
glazer. This piece is 10” high by 5” wide. It has a retail value of $198.
This piece is glazed in Moss with brown vines and
orange-red berries. The coloring matches our
Bittersweet Pitcher in the Moss glaze. In addition to our regular
studio mark and the artist's original ink signature, the foot of the vase
is marked with an “E” designating it as experimental. This is a gorgeous
piece that is sure to be at home in your EFP collection. |

North Lakeland Discovery Center's Membership Social & Silent Auction |
|
The North Lakeland
Discovery Center is a community-based environmental learning center
dedicated to exploring, preserving, and enhancing the Lakeland area's
natural, cultural, and historic resources. The Center is located on a
66-acre site in Manitowish Waters, in the heart of northern Wisconsin's
tranquil Lakeland destination region. Core values include a belief that
the acquisition of knowledge and skills is a life-long undertaking.
Through various means including recreation, discussion, display, and field
study, The Discovery Center offers a diversity of experiential learning
opportunities. Programs are based on the premise that the better we
understand our natural environment, the more likely we are to accept our
shared responsibility to look after it. |
|
The Discovery Center's
annual Membership Social provides an opportunity to support the Center
by bidding on an array of silent auction items donated by the area’s
businesses and artists. This year Ephraim Faience Pottery has donated
a Sunflower
Vase from the now-retired Tenth Anniversary Collection to the
silent auction. This special collection marked EFP's tenth anniversary and
was available for one year only, retiring on July 31st, 2007.
The foot bears a special tenth anniversary mark in addition to our regular
studio mark and Ken Nekola's original ink signature. |

*Why is it called Angel's Wish?
Lois Lawrence, a founding member of Angel's Wish, once rescued a kitten
from a construction site. Weak with starvation, dehydration, and a severe
upper respiratory infection, neither veterinary treatment nor Lois’ love
and care could save the kitten from the effects of that hot June day.
Angel died that night in Lois' arms. The organization believes that
Angel's Wish would have been that no other animal be subjected to pain,
suffering, abandonment or neglect.
