We live in
Madison, Wisconsin in a 1936 Bungalow. We’ve lived in our Bungalow for the
past 25 years. In the last 5 years we’ve been furnishing the house with
mission furniture and arts and crafts pottery. We display our pottery in
all rooms of the house. Typically, we like the more classic and
traditional styles [of Ephraim pottery]; they go very well with the style
of our house. Currently our favorite piece is the Dovetail in the Sunlight
glaze. Other favorites include the Three Iris [retired], Temple Gate, and
the Brussels Vase [retired]. |

Stickley table.

We started
collecting Ephraim Pottery about 5 years ago when we visited Dovetail
Antiques looking for mission furniture and accessories. Currently we have
28 pots and 6 tiles. We make a trip to Dovetail Antiques about once a
month now. We often e-mail the store and order pottery when we see a piece
we want in the newsletter or catalogue. We purchase anywhere from 3-6
pieces a year.
This was the
first year we attended the Holiday Pottery Fest [at Dovetail Antiques]. We
were able to have some of our previously purchased pieces signed by the
artists, and had the opportunity to meet and talk with other
collectors. We also attended the Seconds Sale [held in November 1999 at
Dovetail Antiques, this event was the forerunner of the Holiday Pottery
Fest]. |
