Glazes |
|
Ephraim Faience Pottery's glazes are
admired for their richness, depth and texture. The natural beauty that
surrounds us is a great source of inspiration. Our glaze colors reflect
the colors of the sky and land as they change with the seasons - deep
oranges and warm golds in the fall, icy indigo and purple in the winter,
and rich green and blue in the spring and summer months.
The matte crystalline
glazes that our artists have developed are amazingly similar to the
glazes used by the historic potteries of the Arts and Crafts era. During firing, the
thick glazes become molten, and the force of gravity pulls them down the
piece. This running and blending creates marvelous, and sometimes
unpredictable, effects. The firing process also brings out crystals,
which add depth and richness to the color.
Each of EFP's glazes or
defined glaze combinations is
identified by a code. Color chips and general descriptions appear here. For aesthetic and technical reasons, most

either a single color combination or in a limited range of colors.
Please be aware that variations within a color do occur. This is due to
naturally occurring fluctuations in the raw materials used to make the
glazes, and to a variety of factors in the firing process.
Please
be aware that
monitors display colors differently. Colors shown should be considered
approximations only. Our print catalog shows the truest
representations of our glaze colors that can be achieved with current
