Chronology of  Ephraim Faience Pottery Marks

In the world of art pottery, makers' marks serve important functions. Makers use them to identify their work, so that their pieces aren't misattributed or misrepresented. Collectors use them as an aid in identifying the maker and the date, as well as to determine the authenticity of the piece.

In January of each year, we introduce new marks that are used for all pieces made during the course of that year. A chronology of EFP marks, including those currently in use, appears below.

Since mid-1999, the foot of each vase also bears the signature of the principal artist. All of our work is collaborative, and more than one artist works on each piece. The principal artist is the person who has put the most work into the piece. This is usually the potter or the sculptor. To read short bios of our artists, click here.
